Miami's new Football Coach, Mike Haywood

Posted by CincyRedhawk on 27. April 2009 14:25

Sunday was also Miami Day at the game.  I took this opportunity to meet the new Miami Redhawk football coach Mike Haywood.  I was nothing but impressed with the man.  He was very inviting and has a great positive attitude was mirrored with his assistants also present.  I'm really looking forward to see what he can do with the football program.  Since the departure of Ben and Coach Hoeppner Miami hasn't been a great team.  Coach Haywood came to us after being the Offensice Coordinator at Notre Dame for several years where he worked with Brady Quinn and the high powered offense.  Miami has had a respectable defense the past couple years, but have really struggled on the offense side of the ball.

Coach Haywood, coming from Notre Dame, was quick to question Bengals fans and their referring to starting safety Chinedum Ndukwe as "Chinny".  Coach told a story when he first got the job about people asking him about "Chinny", and how he was clueless who they were talking about.  Chinedum's nickname at Notre Dame was "Ndu".  Coach had nothing but good things to say about Chinedum and the work he's done in the Cincinnati area since becoming a member of the community.

For the collectors out there, Miami currently has an online auction taking place consisting of memorbilia from a Tom Brady autographed jersey to an Enrico Blasi autographed hockey jersey.  If you're interested, check it out here.
