The Cyclones play host to the Elmira Jackals in the second round of the Kelly Cup playoffs. The Jackals won the regular season series with a record of 3-3-1. Overall, the series was incredibly close with 3 of the games being decided by only 1 goal.
Just because the Cyclones lost the regular series record doesn't mean they are at a disadvantage. The Cyclones lost the regular season series against Wheeling and pulled off a win in an incredible game 7. The Cyclones have more playoff experience and that is what you want this time of year. Having a winning record in the regular season gets you home ice advantage, but is no guarantee of an easy matchup or a successful playoff run.
I don't think this series will be easy by any means, but I have faith the Cyclones can pull off a series win in 6 games.
This Friday and Saturday, head down to US Bank Arena and cheer on the only professional playoff team in Cinci. You can get $1 hotdogs on Friday and $3 24oz beers on Saturday. Lets get cyc'd!
